Our Vision

JVUF will be a model sustainable urban farm that teaches youth and the Birmingham community about sustainable agriculture and nutrition through outdoor experiential education.

Where is Jones Valley Urban Farm?

• The Southside Farm @ 2319 10th Ave South
• The East Avondale Community Garden @ 3rd Ave South and 47th Street
• The Gardens of Park Place (formerly the Garden of Hope) @ 7th Ave North and 25th Street

What is Jones Valley Urban Farm?

Jones Valley Urban Farm is a non-profit project in the heart of Birmingham, Alabama that promotes sustainable agriculture and alternative land-use. We have developed three vacant lots into production organic farms working with the neighborhood, high school students, and volunteers.

Our produce and flowers are sold to local restaurants and at farmers’ markets to partially support the project. We have developed an accredited high school science course in conjunction with the Alabama School of Fine Arts and a nutrition-based field trip called Seed 2 Plate. Come out to the farm and become a part of our community.

July 7th - 11th  "Foodie Camp"  Jones Valley Urban Farm hosts youth from all over Birmingham in collaboration with the City of Birmingham's Division of Youth Services .   5th and 6th grade students will spend the week on the farm learning how to grow food, how to prepare that fresh produce, and finding out how much fun the non-virtual world really is...

July 12th from 10 am to 12. Second Saturday Education Programs - Planning a Fall Garden . That's Right!  We're already talking about Fall.  Come learn why the time is now to start thinking about getting fall vegetables in the ground.
Please RSVP to Director@jvuf.org.  $10 for public.  Free for community gardeners.  Located at the Gardens of Park Place - 701 25th Street North.

July 13th-- Summer Sunday Supper Series 6:00 pm - A Southwestern taste extravaganza featuring Jones Valley Urban Farm produce prepared on site by Sean Butler of Food Studio B . Contact Stephanie at events@jvuf.org to reserve your seat.  Very limited space.  $75 per plate.
