Growing Together
Planning, planting and loving a, Sustainable Community Garden For your church, school, neighborhood, or club
This is an innovative six part training series that will take place one Saturday a month for six months, starting in December and running through May. Each class will focus on a variety of subjects that will help you and your community develop and sustain a productive garden. If your group wants to start a garden, we can help:
ASAP is offered during the school year at the Alabama School of Fine Arts (ASFA), and as individual field trips to the Farm for other schools.
- Choose a garden site with the right soil, sun, and safety
- Involve community members to help sustain the garden
- Plan the garden’s crops and budget
- Find the tools and resources to make your garden grow
- Manage pests and weeds organically
- Grow plenty of fresh healthy food for your families
- Find money and volunteer help to keep you growing
- Teach you organic gardening skills
