Reconnecting people to food

ASAP

During the summer of 2003, JVUF developed a for-credit science course in collaboration with the Alabama School of Fine Arts (ASFA). This course, called the Arts and Science of Agriculture Program (ASAP), offered ten students a semester the opportunity to earn a science elective credit while working on the urban farm. The curriculum included individual research projects, a group project, field-trips to local agricultural sites, and lectures on botany and agri-science.

The ASAP course, recently featured in an article in The American School Board Journal, is now offered during the school year as well as the summer. If space is available, students from other local high schools will be invited to participate. Please contact Edwin Marty if you are interested in more information about this exciting program.
